Elizabeth “Lisa” Morrison Bogan, a devoted mother and loving spouse who served Wilton’s schools, children and parks with passion and dedication for more than two decades, died in Norwalk Hospital on September 16, 2016 after a prolonged illness. She was 60.

Mrs. Bogan embodied the spirit of service and the generosity of a life-long volunteer and organizer. She devoted much of her life to supporting friends, Wilton’s children, various education institutions and her church. During the 26 years in which she resided in Wilton, she served on many boards and committees – all in support of Wilton’s children. She served on the Wilton Board of Education, spending four years as its Vice Chairperson; she was Wilton’s Little League Baseball and Softball Administrator for 13 years; a founding member of the Wilton Education Foundation, she served as its President for five years where she dedicated special attention to Spelling Bees, Read-Aloud Day, Career Day, and Community Conversations that focused on consensus building to effect positive change. Mrs. Bogan also dedicated 14 years volunteering for the League of Women Voters, where she was a National School Start Time Advocate and Expert.  She gave generously of her time to the Wilton Public Schools and the Wilton YMCA Board of Directors, where she served for 12 years as a member and three years as President.  She also founded Lead With Action, LLC, a Community Conversation organization for college campus students to identify substantive issues and effect change. She was a long-standing and active member of her church – First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Wilton.

Born on April 12, 1956, Mrs. Bogan was raised in Portland, OR until the age of 11, when she moved to Chappaqua, NY and then two years later to Lake Forest, IL. She graduated Lake Forest High School in the Class of 1974 and then attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, graduating with majors in English and Economics. She was an energetic life-long member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and advised Yale University’s chapter for many years. Always ready to help a worthy cause, she gave back to her college often, serving Bucknell as an involved alumni supporter and for five years as a member of the Executive Committee of the Bucknell University Alumni Association Board of Directors.

During her early tenure in Connecticut, Mrs. Bogan worked in banking in New York City at Manufacturers Hanover Trust (now JP Morgan), and later at Factset Research Systems.

Throughout her life, she was steadfast in her love of all things relating to gardens, birds and nature. Her family garden was a spectacle of bloom and color attracting many common and rare birds to her backyard. She also found time for supporting Wilton’s parks and gardens. For five years, she served on the Board of the Norwalk River Valley Trail (“NRVT”).

For those who knew and loved her best, her passions at home were her family, kids, cooking, gardening, New England cuisine, rock & roll music, and cross-country skiing and the family pets – always West Highland Terriers.

Mrs. Bogan was pre-deceased by her mother, Elizabeth Morrison. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Scott Bogan, and her devoted son, Douglas Bogan, both of Wilton, CT; her father, Donald Morrison of Chagrin Falls, OH; her sister, Carol Morrison Bingham and brother-in-law Bob Bingham, her niece, Sarah Bingham and nephew Jack Bingham – all of Canton, CT; her brother-in-law Chris Bogan, sister-in-law Mary Jo Barnett, nephews Evan Bogan and Will Bogan, and niece Anya Bogan – all of Chapel Hill, NC, and her brother-in-law Bob Bogan and niece Ally Bogan – both of Tampa, FL.

Memorial services will celebrate Mrs. Bogan’s life on Saturday, October 8th at 2 p.m. at the Wilton Congregational Church. The family asks that any donations in Elizabeth Morrison Bogan’s memory be made to the Elizabeth Morrison Bogan scholarship fund for music study.
